Nola Week– New Orleans Fashion Week- 9-12:00
Design and create a simple jumpsuit or romper using different trim & sewing techniques. The designers will also explore trending designs, fabrics, and accessories that are inspired by the French dressing up for Mardi Gras or the Jazz festival. The accessory of the week is to decorate a mask to wear with the project you made! If time allows, then they’ll even make a braided belt to complement their design.
Mexico Week- 1-4:00
Design and sew your simple top or dress. Our designers will learn also learn
how to hand embroider their design on to their project. Each designer will also explore authentic Mexican fabrics seen throughout their culture. Our designers will also add a head piece with handmade flowers and trims to compliment your traditional embordered top. Hand sewing will be taught to attach the trims to the headband.
Do you have a passion for fashion? Well, you have come to the right place we will teach you all you need to know to become a fashion designer. Some sewing experience helpful necessary.
We offer a 1.5hour workshop on how to sew or as a refresher course. Ages 8and up are all welcome for this class.
See our website for more details.
Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choosing and rendering the fabric, learning the proper way to measure including measuring understanding the importance of this process and the fit of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine. Then, they sew the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally, on the last day of our camp, we hold our Virtual Fashion Show.
During our fashion summer camp weeks, if time allows, we add fashion challenges (i.e. Newspaper challenges as well as others as the days go by), for our designers to explore their inner most fashion taste and skills.
