My Name is Renee Nesbitt Baird; my background is in fashion design. I'm a Parsons School of Design graduate, and interned in children's wear fashion design. I was one of the winners of the children's wear award for JC Penney back in the late 70's. My Fashion Design Mentor was Oscar de la Renta. For the next 25 years, I worked for various upscale Men's and Ladies fashion brands designing apparel, accessories and hosiery.

Growing up in the Midwest we had the opportunity to take sewing lessons & creative fashion art classes. Nowadays these classes have disappeared from our schools. I'm so glad so many Union County, Somerset County and Middlesex County area schools have opened their doors to our program, we are always busy planning our next fashion adventure.

We teach the fundamentals of sewing skills to not only learn how to sew and sketch but, also to build self-esteem. This program is a creative outlet for all students.
